Nobody

Who?

Attributes: In the past, when we lived in smaller communities, everybody was somebody. Everybody knew everybody else, and anybody you didn’t know was The Outsider. As more and more people have gathered together however, people have begun to slip through the cracks. People can now live and die without anybody really even noticing them. It doesn’t happen very often, but it does happen. Sometimes, it happens deliberately. To properly channel Nobody, you have to be always seen but never known. Everybody should recognise you, but they should recognise you as “that guy who comes in here sometimes”. Just living alone and never talking to anybody doesn’t cut it.

Taboo: Nobody’s on nobody’s side. You may never have any real friends or stay in contact with your family. Anything which affirms your identity is a breach of Taboo, even if it only affirms your identity as “that spooky guy that lives at the end of the street”. Some dukes believe the Nonentities to be products of the mystic propwash of the Ascension of Nobody. Also note that avatars of Nobody run a serous risk of blowing out thier Isolation and Self guages and becoming Sociopaths

Symbols: None. Or rather an absence of symbols. A lack of distinguishing features.

Suspected Avatars in History: Pretty much by definition avatars of Nobody don’t make it into the history books. Although you could make a case for the Unknown Soldier

Channels:
1%-50%: You’re forgettable, average, a nebbish. People will tend to describe you as “average height, average build, drives a blue car”. This channel only requires a roll to use if you have a particular distinguishing characteristic that somebody could remember. With a successful Avatar: Nobody roll you can be remembered as average height even though you’re 6’3”. Note that although this channel stops somebody remembering your distinguishing features, possessing them still weakens your link to the archetype.

51%-70%: You’re a face in the crowd. If you’re amongst a group of people, you can be overlooked with a roll against your avatar skill, even by determined pursuers. This channel works even if you’re wearing a pinstripe suit and hiding in a nudist colony, but once again you break Taboo for standing out.

71%-90%: At this level you can bambozle all attempts to find or scry on you. Any attempt to locate you with means either mundane or magickal suffers a -30% shift

91%+: At this level you do not psychically speaking exist. You show up as blank to Aura sight, no divination can tell anything about you, and magick will only affect you if it directly attacks your physical body. Epideromancers can blast you, so can Dipsomancers if they can see you, but Plutomancers can’t

Actually, I think this is a pretty good avatar. It’s primal enough to sit in the ranks of the archetypes, but it’s also got just the right feel for this game…

I’m going to using it for a character for a Non-Entity hunter.

Are they the opposite of the Hermit, in style if not function?
