There Have Always Been Five of Us

Five is the number of strength…

There have always been five of us.

For as long as we have existed here, in this place, there have always been five of us. Five is a great number. Five is a number of power, ancient and terrible. Five is the number of destiny, of the sides in a pentagon, and fingers on each hand.

There have always been five of us.

There was a man once, who tried to make us not five. His terrible weapon struck at one of us, at all of us, and one of us fell to the ground. Then we were four. Four is bad. Four are weak. Five is strength. There must be five of us.

It took some time, but we found the man, cornered him and took his weapon. As four, we were barely strong enough. Four is weak. We wanted to be five. We would be five.

The ceremony was long and difficult. We used the tools of coin, cup, nail, and blood. When we were finished, there were five of us.

There will always be five of us.

There have always been five of us.

We walk the roads, afraid of nothing, looking for power. We are unafraid because we are strong. We are strong because there are five of us. There have always been five of us. We look for more power. As five we are strong. We will be immortal. Truly immortal.

When the three hundred thirty-three souls ascend to the chambers of heaven, we will still be here. Three hundred thrity-three is a weak number. It is a number of lies, souls, and more lies. It is not five. Five is a number of strength. We make it stronger. We will be stronger than the three hundred thirty-three and they will not be able to make us leave our sanctum. Because they are weak. And we are five.

We need more power first. Without power, we will be too weak to resist the three hundred thirty-three directly. For now, they can only move through whispers of lies and truth, promises of power, and the weakness of man’s endeavors. We are too strong for them now. But soon they will come in person. They will glow like a million suns, but it will not aid them. Million is weak. Five is strong.

We will have our power.

There must always be five of us.

There have always been five of us.

    Creepy.
    Nicely surreal.
