333 victims of the Beslan tragedy.

333 balloons were launched today (3rd September 2006) in the memory of 333 victims of Beslan.

2 years ago terrorists captured a school in Beslan, a city in Southern Russia, holding near a 1000 children hostages.
The capture was a shock to the world, since it was the first time terrorists used children to meet their goals.
Russian special forces in a lame, unprofessional, etc anti-terrorist operation caused death of many hostages.
Example: a tank fired several times at the school while all the hostages were still in there.

Perhaps a symbolic sacrifice by the Spetznatz to ressurect the Soviet Union?

good idea moko, but killing children to resurrect the Soviet Union is not that good. The Soviets were not that crazy

The Soviets weren’t, but the Spetzatz commander could have been. And really, after a bunch of Hardened notches in Violence, isn’t a bunch of children a worthy sacrifice? Just don’t let the Sleeping Tiger find out!

They weren’t children, they were 333 clones of the current and some suspected archetypes. They were only halfway to maturity. Of course, the school should have been a secret.
