Dermott Arkane planning a Summer vacation in Greece?
You all know Dermott Arkane, right? You’ve hear about his plan to Ascend as the new, improved Messenger?
But what do you know about the currently sitting on the throne? Not much I’ll bet, not even his name. Well one possibilty is that it’s Phidippides, the one who ran from Marathon to Athens in 490BC with new of victory on the field of battle, and then promptly “died”.
Marathon – you starting to see where I’m going with this?
Turns out the marathon at this year’s Olympics is being run over the same route as Phidippides took 2,500 years ago. All those millions watching it around the world, that’s gotta be good for The Man Upstair’s vision of the archetype, right?
Absolutely. But Dermott, he’s smart and if there’s one thing he knows, it’s how to make a message say what he wants it to say.
Imagine – what if all those people tuning in for the marathon instead saw all of the leading runners gunned down by persons unknown just before they crossed the line? The world just watched the old archetype fail, the media is full of speculation, opinion and spin – and just out of your field of vision, a guy in a pair of Nike trainers grins, glows brightly for a second, and then vanishes.

You got it all wrong, man. He’s going to dose the runners, so that the winners are disqualified for drugs. That way, the “Winner” won’t get the medal, and one of the guys who was beaten won’t have actually lost.
The disqualification is perfectly symbolic of the current messenger’s fall from grace.
Perhaps you noticed that this marathon was quite unusual.
The leading runner was stopped by a spectator for a couple of seconds, just enough to prevent him from winning the race.
He wore a jewish hexagram on his clothes, with some text mentionning the coming of the Apocalypse.
I guess he used symbols opposed in a strange way to those of the Messenger to prevent him from Ascending. The runner was certainly not Dermott Arkane himself, but hey, the Major Proxy ritual exists for a reason.
